The DAWG Dispatch

Kimberly came to the shelter to visit Zeus while he was healing from surgery. She was so pleased to see him doing well because her last memory of him was sitting with him while he was in extreme pain from having been hit by a car. His leg was not only broken but dislocated and he was crying in pain. You can imagine her relief in seeing him just a few weeks later feeling pretty well but still healing from surgery. Kimberly and a couple of other people stayed with Zeus for 30 minutes until the officer came to get him. At night, the officers are on call so they have to drive to the shelter to pick up their truck and then to the scene.  Thankfully Kimberly did a great job keeping our sweet guy calm.

We wrote to Kimberly giving her an update on Zeus's adoption along with a photo of his new family telling her how much he loves them, especially his new sister, Zoe. We were so pleased to receive a lovely response from this guardian angel.

How can you look at this Pug and not smile.  Tonka is a playful, oh so affectionate little clown. With that tongue hanging out and that great smile, he keeps everyone laughing.

Our sweet older orange tabby found a great home today.  

Little Calico Jackie was surrendered to a vet because the family felt she was too active. She's a 10 week old kitten. The shelter always encourages people to think about the high level of activity that would be quite normal for a kitten.  The vet asked our shelter to find a purrrfect home for this little one. She is so adorable that was not much of a challenge. 

Smokey is one happy dog!  This super sweet dog settled right in at the shelter and won the hearts of volunteers and visitors to the shelter in record time.

When Timmy arrived at the shelter he was so shy it took many days of sitting with him and coaxing him to come out of his kennel before we realized Timmy was just a scared puppy.

Volunteers and staff lined up to say their good-byes to two precious kittens. When they arrived at the shelter they were so completely shy. After many hours with volunteers playing with them and holding them, they blossomed into sweet, curious and affectionate little ones. And today was a very good day for Chris and Stewie.
